Practice lessons: try the classroom with a pretend student

Want to get to know the classroom before your first student arrives — or try something new without anyone watching? You can now give yourself a practice lesson.

A practice lesson is a real lesson with a pretend student. You prepare it on the normal lesson page, teach it in the real classroom, and end it the way you end any lesson. It's free, it never shows on your profile or in your numbers, and no student ever sees it.

How to start one

  1. Open your Dashboard and find Practice lesson.
  2. Choose 25 or 50 minutes.
  3. Choose Now to go straight into the classroom, or Later to schedule it and prepare it first.

What you can try

  • Your camera, microphone and screen sharing
  • The whiteboard, slides and the shared document
  • Opening materials, PDFs and saved decks on the stage
  • Vocabulary, exercises, quizzes and homework
  • Ending the lesson

Practice lessons sit with your other lessons, marked Practice, so you can always find them and pick up where you left off.

Practising with our team

Sometimes Natalina or another member of the KoloLingo team will book a practice lesson with you to walk through the classroom together. It arrives like any lesson request, marked Practice lesson from the KoloLingo team — accept it and we'll meet you in the room. Nothing is paid and nothing counts, so feel free to explore.
