By the end of German Survival Missions: Healthcare in Germany, you will be able to: 🩺 Get medical help without panicking — know where to go and whom to contact in different situations. 📅 Book and manage a doctor’s appointment in German, including understanding important dates, times and appointment details. 🪪 Arrive prepared with the right documents, your Gesundheitskarte or Ersatzbescheinigung, and the essential information about your health. 👨⚕️ Choose the right doctor and understand the difference between a Hausarzt, Facharzt and other healthcare services. 🗣️ Describe symptoms and pain clearly — where it hurts, how long you have had symptoms, how severe they are and what has changed. 👂 Follow a medical consultation and understand common questions, examinations, instructions and basic findings. 💶 Ask what you have to pay and understand the difference between covered services, IGeL, private costs and co-payments. ✋ Speak up as a patient — ask questions, give or refuse consent, request documents and know when asking for a second opinion may be relevant. 💊 Understand your medication — how and when to take it and what information about risks or interactions you need to clarify. 🏥 Use a pharmacy and E-Rezept confidently. 📄 Handle sick leave and understand the basics of Krankschreibung and eAU. 🦷 Navigate dental care — explain dental problems and understand treatment-cost planning. ✉️ Decode healthcare letters — identify important information, documents and deadlines. 🚨 Know what to do when something is urgent and distinguish between emergency situations and services such as the Bereitschaftsdienst. 💬 Use practical survival phrases instead of trying to translate everything word-for-word.
